Codependency is an elusive consideration when we are dealing with challenging clients; we label them as "codependent" and move on. Oftentimes, we stop digging for the root cause of their maladaptive coping mechanisms and give up trying to help them because we've already deemed them impossible to help. Maybe we believe they bring their trouble on themselves. Codependency is a set of behaviors that damage relationships. This course defines these behaviors while examining the symptoms of codependency. We will look into how codependency develops, consider the differential diagnoses, treatment options that are considered best practice, and self-care for our clients.
